Which Dutch civil-status or population record do you have?
An afschrift, uittreksel, and uittreksel BRP are distinct records; the translation must retain the exact title and registry context.
An afschrift is an official copy; an uittreksel contains selected details. A BRP extract reports registered population data and is not another name for a birth or marriage certificate. The translation keeps birth, marriage, death, divorce-registration, registered-partnership, and recognition records distinct. See the birth certificate, marriage certificate, and death certificate guides.
Corpus preserves the printed gemeente, burgerlijke stand, registrar, record number, event, registration and issue dates, annotations, signatures, seals, QR text, reverse side, and attachments. Similar Belgian Dutch terms retain their country, municipality, database, and certificate context. For a multilingual form with English fields, ask the recipient whether translation is required.
How are tussenvoegsels, ij, diacritics, dates, and identifiers handled?
Dutch names and identifiers stay source-faithful, including tussenvoegsels, ij or IJ, diacritics, BSN digits, date roles, and decimal punctuation.
Prefixes such as van, de, van de, van den, and van der remain as printed. Corpus does not drop or recapitalize a prefix, reorder a surname, or choose a United States form's family-name field. Birth, partner, and prior surnames remain distinct. A supported passport spelling can preserve identity consistency; name endings do not prove gender.
Printed ij and IJ are not changed to y; ë, ï, é, è, ö, and ü remain intact. Every BSN, KVK, RSIN, and account number stays digit-for-digit. Day-month-year dates remain unambiguous. Decimal commas, separators, euro symbols, percentages, and table alignment remain unchanged, without recalculation or conversion.
What can OCR miss in Dutch records?
Human review protects Dutch letter pairs, identifiers, amounts, dates, grades, stamps, and table relationships that OCR can merge or erase.
High-risk pairs include ij/y, rn/m, cl/d, O/0, I/l/1, é/e, ë/e, and ï/i. OCR can lose punctuation, decimal commas, prefixes, reverse notes, or table relationships. Corpus checks names, BSN and KVK numbers, case references, dates, amounts, grades, codes, and stamps against the image.
Color scans help distinguish faint diacritics, embossed seals, security backgrounds, and marks introduced by grayscale compression or cropped document margins.
Security patterns can hide punctuation beside printed registry numbers.
An obscured name, digit, amount, grade, place, case number, or stamp is never reconstructed. Unreadable content receives [ILLEGIBLE]. Reverse sides and annexes remain in scope when they contain text.
How are Dutch portal files, reverse sides, and mixed-language records scoped?
Place of issue does not establish language; every packet is checked for language, reverse text, validation panels, and seals.
Portal downloads may contain signatures, QR codes, document IDs, validation URLs, warnings, or conditions. Corpus preserves visible text and layout in full but does not log in, verify authenticity, or certify security features.
Records from Belgium, Suriname, Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Saba, or Sint Eustatius may mix French, German, English, Frisian, Sranan Tongo, Papiamento, or Papiamentu. Older records may contain Latin, Indonesian or Malay, obsolete spelling, historical type, or handwriting. Quote review follows the visible content. Corpus translates readable supplied apostille or legalisation wording in scope; it does not obtain, provide, authenticate, or verify an apostille, seal, signature, or original.
How are a Dutch VOG and court records distinguished?
A VOG, judgment, decision, summons, police report, and criminal-record extract retain distinct titles, authorities, purposes, and wording.
A Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag (VOG) is a formal Certificate of Conduct issued through Justis. The translation preserves the applicant, purpose, screening profile, issue details, signatures, and verification text. It does not call a VOG a complete criminal-record search, universal police clearance, proof of innocence, or promise acceptance. See criminal record translation.
A vonnis, beschikking, dagvaarding, police report, or Belgian uittreksel uit het strafregister remains a separate record. Corpus preserves the court or authority, parties, allegations or holdings, case number, dates, result, appeal or finality wording, attachments, signatures, and stamps without explaining legal effect. The court document translation guide covers related written records.
How are Dutch diplomas, cijferlijsten, and ECTS credits translated?
Academic translations preserve the institution, program, qualification, course titles, grades, ECTS credits, dates, seals, and table structure.
A diploma, getuigschrift, cijferlijst, or supplement may show qualification levels, grade scales, studiepunten, ECTS credits, signatures, seals, and bilingual fields. Each course stays connected to its grade, credit, period, note, and student identifier. Corpus does not convert grades, award United States equivalency, or perform credential evaluation. See diploma translation and academic transcript translation.
Qualification titles remain as issued, while bilingual headings stay connected to printed course rows, grades, and credit values.
DUO legalisation or recognition is separate from translation. The recipient sets version, attachment, copy, and certification rules. Dense tables, damaged certificates, faint seals, handwriting, mixed-language supplements, and academic packets require quote review.
What details matter in Dutch KVK, employment, tax, and financial records?
KVK and RSIN identifiers, entity forms, pay periods, tax-document types, amounts, and tables remain tied to source labels.
A KVK-uittreksel can show legal and trade names, KVK number, RSIN, activities, directors, addresses, filing dates, status, and a form such as BV, NV, VOF, or stichting. Corpus does not map a Dutch form to a United States equivalent or certify good standing. See business record translation.
A loonstrook is a pay slip; a jaaropgaaf is an annual income statement. Voorlopige aanslag and definitieve aanslag are distinct tax records. Employer, period, amounts, wage-tax and social-insurance fields, deductions, credits, totals, decimal commas, and tables remain intact without tax advice, recalculation, or income verification. Financial records keep issuer, account, period, amount, and row relationships.
What makes a Dutch scan ready for certified translation?
A usable file shows each page and side in straight, uncropped color, including reverse notes, identifiers, signatures, seals, tables, and attachments.
Upload every side, faint seal, handwritten addition, embossed area, annex, page number, and validation panel. Check ij, IJ, diacritics, prefixes, BSN and KVK digits, date separators, decimal commas, grades, and table cells.
Color capture helps separate faint ink from security backgrounds, and straight framing keeps row labels aligned with correct values.
Do not crop attached apostille or legalisation text. Corpus can translate readable supplied wording but does not provide or verify an apostille. Retake images when glare, folds, damage, or low contrast hides content. Handwriting, dense layouts, multiple files, mixed languages, or unclear page counts belong in quote review.
What should I check for USCIS, NVC, or another recipient?
The receiving organization controls the required record type, issuer, version, certification, recency, copy format, and submission instructions.
For USCIS, foreign-language evidence generally needs a full English translation certified complete and accurate, plus translator-competence certification. Follow current form or RFE instructions and review USCIS translation services. Corpus does not claim government approval, promise acceptance, or predict an outcome. Translation cannot cure the wrong record, missing reverse, incomplete annexes, unsuitable VOG, or wrong issuer.
For NVC or consular processing, current Netherlands reciprocity and post instructions control the document, issuer, version, annotation, and translation need. Other recipients set their own rules. Confirm unclear certification, copy, recency, format, and version requirements before purchase. Corpus provides written translation, not legal, tax, immigration, or credential advice.
Should I start an order or request a quote?
Start an order for a standard Dutch file with known scope; use quote review for historical, mixed-language, damaged, dense, or special material.
Use Start Your Order when the Dutch file is complete, readable, standard, and has a known page count. The direct-order selector does not name Dutch, so choose Other and specify Dutch. Eligible clear standard pages start at $19.99 per page, and standard 24-hour delivery applies after scope confirmation.
Use Get a Quote and select Dutch for handwriting, historical or mixed-language records, damaged scans, dense tables, unclear scope, or recipient instructions. The order-versus-quote guide explains the split. Corpus does not provide notarization, apostille service, hard copies, interpretation, procurement, authentication, credential evaluation, legal or tax advice, or an acceptance guarantee.
FAQs
What does certified Dutch document translation cost?
Eligible clear, standard Dutch documents start at $19.99 per page. Mixed-language, handwritten, historical, dense, damaged, unclear, or recipient-specific files need quote review before price and timing are confirmed.
Which Dutch documents can you translate?
We translate readable Dutch civil records, BRP extracts, VOG certificates, court documents, diplomas, transcripts, KVK extracts, employment, tax, financial, and other written documents.
What is the difference between an afschrift, uittreksel, and BRP extract?
An afschrift is an official copy of a civil-status record, while an uittreksel contains selected or essential details. A BRP extract reports registered population data and is not another name for a birth or marriage certificate.
How are Dutch names, ij, diacritics, and BSN numbers handled?
We preserve printed name prefixes, ij or IJ, diacritics, and every visible BSN digit, space, and label. We do not drop tussenvoegsels, replace ij with y, strip accents, or calculate missing identifier digits.
Can you translate a Dutch VOG certificate?
Yes. We can translate a readable supplied Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag while preserving its applicant, purpose, screening wording, issue details, signatures, and verification text without calling it a complete criminal-record search.
Can you translate Dutch education, KVK, and tax documents?
Yes. We translate readable diplomas, cijferlijsten, KVK extracts, loonstroken, jaaropgaven, and tax assessments while preserving grades, credits, entity forms, tax periods, amounts, identifiers, and table relationships.
When does standard 24-hour delivery apply?
Standard 24-hour delivery applies to eligible clear, complete, standard files after scope confirmation. Mixed-language, handwritten, historical, damaged, dense, bound, or multi-document packets may require more time.
Should I start an order or request a quote?
Start an order for a clear, complete, standard Dutch file with a known page count, choosing Other and specifying Dutch. Request a quote for handwriting, historical or mixed-language records, damaged scans, dense layouts, unclear page count, or recipient-specific instructions.
