Is the file in Latin script, modern Aksara Sunda, or a historical writing system?

The script actually printed on the page controls the work; Latin, modern Aksara Sunda, and historical forms are scoped separately.

Latin script has been widely used for Sundanese since the twentieth century. Modern Aksara Sunda, also called official Sundanese script, became official in 1996 and occupies the Unicode range U+1B80–U+1BBF. Those facts do not make a modern Latin file interchangeable with an Aksara Sunda record.

Every page is checked for script changes, parallel text, handwritten additions, stamps, and older character forms. Corpus does not silently romanize Aksara Sunda, modernize a historical spelling, or label Latin text as traditional script. How are Aksara Sunda signs, vowels, digits, and line order controlled?

Aksara Sunda letters, dependent signs, final marks, digits, punctuation, and line relationships are checked against the complete image.

Aksara Sunda consonants carry an inherent vowel. Independent vowels, dependent vowel signs, medial signs, final-consonant signs, Sundanese digits, and the vowel-killer pamaeh can change the reading of a word or number. A detached or faint mark cannot be treated as decoration.

OCR is only a draft aid. Compression may erase a combining sign, a stamp may cover part of a character, and a skewed scan may move a numeral toward the wrong row. Review compares every readable character, digit, punctuation mark, line, label, and repeated identifier with the full image.

Missing signs are not reconstructed from expectation. Cropped edges, blur, glare, bleed-through, uncertain character order, or unsupported fonts need a clearer scan or quote review before a translation and delivery time are confirmed.

How are Latin spelling, regional wording, and names preserved?

Readable spelling, capitalization, initials, titles, name order, regional wording, and identifiers stay tied to their source fields.

Sundanese names may appear as one printed element or several. Corpus preserves the structure shown instead of forcing a single name into invented first-name and family-name fields. No surname is added, and a name is not anglicized merely to fit a receiving form.

A passport or recipient spelling supplied for the same person can be compared with the source. It does not erase a different readable form. Initials, titles, punctuation, repeated numbers, and spelling differences remain connected to the page and label where they occur.

Banten and Priangan wording is not silently standardized, and Indonesian or Javanese vocabulary is not substituted for readable Sundanese. Conflicting spellings, uncertain names, mixed-language fields, or a recipient-controlled romanization need review instead of an invented compromise.

Which Sundanese-language materials can be translated?

Readable Sundanese letters, statements, school, work, medical, family, community, religious, cultural, and personal records can be scoped.

Sundanese text can appear in family correspondence, declarations, school records, employment letters, medical notes, local notices, community or religious material, certificates, cultural records, and supporting attachments. The page must actually contain Sundanese; location and issuer are not enough.

Indonesian civil records such as a Kartu Keluarga, identity card, birth record, or marriage record may accompany the same packet. Those pages are scoped as Indonesian unless the visible text proves otherwise. English, Javanese, or another language is also identified separately.

Dense tables, handwriting, Aksara Sunda, historical scripts, code-mixed files, damaged images, missing pages, or uncertain terminology go through quote review. How are Indonesian civil and identity attachments handled in a mixed packet?

Mixed packets keep each authority, title, name, identifier, date, relationship, registration entry, stamp, and reverse side in place.

An Indonesian birth record, family card, identity document, marriage record, passport copy, or police paper may accompany a Sundanese statement. The issuing province does not change the document language. Each page is identified from its visible words, script, headings, and fields.

Review preserves names, NIK, KK or other printed identifiers, dates, places, relationships, registration numbers, signatures, seals, tables, amendments, and backs exactly where they appear. Repeated values are checked across the packet, but one page is not used to fill missing content on another.

Unclear stamps, cropped identifiers, conflicting dates, missing reverse sides, or mixed rows need a clearer image or quote. Translation records readable source content; it does not confirm identity, authenticity, civil status, nationality, or legal effect.

How are older, handwritten, and mixed-script records reviewed?

Old Sundanese, Javanese or Cacarakan, Arabic or Pegon, Latin, handwriting, and mixed scripts require source-by-source review.

Sundanese has been written in several systems. Older material may use Old Sundanese, Javanese/Cacarakan, Arabic/Pegon, or Latin characters, while a later note or stamp may use a different script. Script history cannot identify a damaged character by itself.

Review follows the visible page order, columns, line breaks, marginal notes, seals, dates, numbers, and repeated names. Faded ink, bleed-through, torn edges, compression, dense annotations, or handwriting can hide a sign or join two lines. Unreadable text is not reconstructed from a familiar phrase.

Historical manuscripts and mixed-script records require a quote before timing is confirmed. Corpus does not promise automatic transliteration or routine 24-hour handling for them. A complete color scan, every attachment, and both sides of each page give the reviewer the strongest source.

What does the receiving organization require?

Recipient rules control the packet; checkout fits eligible typed Sundanese, while mixed, older, damaged, or script-sensitive files need a quote.

For USCIS, 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) requires a full English translation certified as complete and accurate, plus certification that the translator is competent to translate.
